‘The Recess’ to vie at Spanish Islantilla Cineforum

The Islantilla Cineforum Film Festival ‘Festival Internacional de Cine bajo la luna’ in Spain has been slated to screen the acclaimed Iranian short film ‘The Recess’.

Directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, the 12-minute flick will be showcased at the competition section of the Spanish event’s 15th edition.

‘The Recess’ tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list of the flick.

Kordi won the award for the best performance for her role in ‘The Recess’ at the 33rd Living Skies Student Film Festival in Canada.

The film has already toured a number of global film events, including the Oxford Film Festival and the Garden State Film Festival, both in the US, as well as the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

The Islantilla Cinefórum is a hub for film-lovers, inviting them to enjoy the most avant-garde audiovisual proposals in the best of settings on the beach.

It is an initiative promoted by the Mancomunidad de Islantilla in collaboration with various public and private entities.

Activities of the Islantilla Cinefórum take place during July and August to enjoy the night and the projections under the moonlight.

The 2022 edition of the Islantilla Cinefórum that is also set to host Iran’s ‘A Winner’ directed by Mehdi Mahaee will be held in July and August 2022.
